Since I was little I have always baked. I was inspired by my mum and sister who would make my birthday cakes from scratch, pouring hours upon hours into making them taste phenomenal and look even better.
When I started baking it was with your standard supermarket cake box mixes but I was soon introduced to the all-in-together chocolate cake baked-from-scratch and I never looked back.
From there my love for anything sweet grew. I was always sharing cakes and sweet treats with my friends at school after spending the weekend in the kitchen.
This passion has never left me, not even after qualifying as a Chef and being exposed to all manner of mouth watering savoury delights.
Becoming obsessed with making the perfect macaron was a natural progression if you ask me (I'll leave that story for another day, but I can tell you that more than one person has said they are better than Adriano Zumbo!). One thing I can't stand, are sweet treats that look like they have been pulled out of the books of a fairy tale, but taste like a cup full of sugar, soaked in colouring.
Anything sweet should taste heavenly.... When you bite into it you should be surprised and delighted with the song that dances across your tongue.
My macarons do that.... Everything I make is with the intention to be a feast for both your eyes and taste buds.
